Exciting developments!

It's fair to say I have been a little 'quiet' of late on my blog writing but I have a few good excuses which, actually, I'll share with you.
Firstly I am (fingers crossed) days away from signing on the dotted line for a new premises for my Norwich 'U and your skin' lounge. It's been a roller coaster few weeks of careful decision making & planning but my new home will be over 3 floors in the lovely 'Lanes' part of Norwich city...I am beyond excited (& a little scared) & just want to get on with the transformation of this beautiful 400 year old building.
So watch this space as I will be Vlogging (Video Blogging) all about it & the progress.

Excuse No 2 is that I have also changed my London venue & am now working from 107 Fleet St. Still under The Wyndham Centre Umbrella its a great & vibrant location so I look forward to welcoming my existing & new clients.

Excuse No 3, for having been so quiet, is that I have been back in 'learning' mode & have just successfully graduated from a course that, after 16 years of being an Electrologist for hair removal, will now allow me to treat Telangectasia (broken facial veins), Skin Tags, Sebboreheic & common warts, Age spots & Milia.I attended the Sterex academy last week in London & had such a great time getting very hands on with all of these skin anomalies which I see so much of as a skin therapist. Its great to now be able to finally eradicate these for people.
I met some great other therapists including a male therapist who qualified the same year I did (1996) & who kindly let me also treat him over the course of the 2 days.

Electrolysis for hair removal is a treatment I have always enjoyed delivering since it also, like my signature facials, has such an impact on people's confidence. It's a well respected method which has been used for 134 years & using this same method to remove the above issues has been around for 101 years, so like everything I do there is alot of positive evidence to support it's success.

I do hope you will feel able to contact me if you are concerned with any of these skin anomalies as I am always happy to discuss & advise.www.uandyourskin.co.uk Norwich . London enquiries@uandyourskin.co.uk

Back to (beauty) School...

September is, for me, the start of a new year. This was the discussion I was having this morning with my husband on the way to the train station bound for my London clinic at The Wyndham Centre.

I decided that it wasn't just to do with the fact that this is my birthday month, but more that it feels like alot changes with the world as we enter Autumn.

Nature has a good old clear out as we see the landscape changing & there is alot of new beginnings as the Schools,Colleges & Universitys all gather in their returning & new students, some more eager than others to embrace a new term.

I can remember the excitement of sporting my new uniform, shoes & school bag equipped with enough supplies that I could have opened my own stationary shop.

So this got me to thinking that even if you are not a student yourself, maybe you also feel like this month is a new start, a new chapter in your life & that we all could do with learning some new skills from time to time.

Here's some 'Back to (beauty) School' skincare tips just for you to make sure you don't feel left out in the playground come break time.

* If you have an early start to your day don't be tempted to skip the morning cleanse. It's so important not to think that just because you have no obvious dirt, grime or make up on your skin that you can get away with this part of your routine. Cleansing in the morning will whisk away dead cells that would have been working hard to turn over as you slept, excess oil & bacterial build up from the skin as well as freshen & wake you up for the lessons ahead.

* Using a good hydrator, preferably laced with Hyaluronic acid &/or argan oil, will keep the skin super moisturised & keep those lines at bay due to the furrowed brows of studying.

* As you work towards your end of term tests it's difficult not to get stressed & therefore get some unwanted spotty outbreaks. Don't be tempted to lean on the 'sugar' to get you through as this is a real skin enemy & if you do get an outbreak then check out my 'How to' video to rescue you from the clutches of the dreaded zit/pimple.

Watch my YouTube debut for top skin tips...

This time last week my Norwich skin lounge was temporarily turned into a TV studio.

I enlisted the professional help of Fierce Bad Rabbit to help me shoot the first of my 'Video Tutorials'.

It was so much fun & I can't wait to bring you more skin related tips in this way...so click here to learn 'How to zap a spotty outbreak'

There are two versions of this & I would love to know which you prefer so why not leave me a comment too.

A question about those 'Brown spots' on your skin...

I have had some great questions posed to me lately via email,my facebook & Twitter profiles.
This one in particular was so good that I thought I would share with you my response since Hyper-pigmentation is something that I see & treat alot.
Please do feel free to send your skin related questions to me...I will always do my best to answer them all & you never know it might be yours that gets featured next.

Q. What do you recommend for brown spots I was in the sun and thought I had enough sunscreen on but for some reason I'm getting those spots. I hate to use hydroquionine as a lightener I've heard its not good for the liver and I'm also trying to get pregnant! Is there an effective more gentle alternative?

A. I am with you regarding Hydro quinone, it's not a safe way to treat these 'Brown spots' & I'm so excited to let you know that there is a safe, natural, clinically proven alternative which I have been using in my skin clinics.
The Priori CoffeeBerry range of cosmeceutical products, as well as being extremely anti ageing, have a natural quinoic molecule which means that it whitens & brightens the skin!
It's a must for anyone that has pigmentation, post acne scarring or who wants their skin to be right on trend with the radiant, illuminating skin that is so flattering to all ages.
